Why is yoga so relaxing?

Yoga increases the levels of , gamma-aminobutyric acid which is associated with better mood and reducing depression

Yoga has a greater positive effect on our mood and level of depression than any other form of exercise, demonstrated by American researchers from the Medical School in Boston, due to higher levels of chemicals in the brain called GABA. Their new research shows in detail how yoga works on these chemicals.

The study showed that yoga increases the levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid - GABA, chemicals in the brain that helps regulate nerve activity. Activity of the acid was reduced in people who suffer from mood disorders, and those otherwise prescribed drugs that enhance GABA activity.

Research has shown that GABA levels increase after an hour of yoga and are associated with better mood and reducing anxiety.

Researchers said that practicing yoga stimulates specific areas of the brain, thereby increasing the changes in endogenous antidepressant neurotransmitters such as GABA. Please note that this very important discovery that will with further research give solutions to the state of depressions without using drugs.
